Bosch is presenting products and services from the connected mobility and connected living sectors.
New technological trends will be set immediately at the start of the new year at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show 2019 (CES 2019) in Las Vegas where Bosch will show its latest innovations under the motto “We turn tomorrow into today.” What this means exactly will be demonstrated by a concept vehicle.
Bosch at CES 2019
CES is a testing ground for pioneering technologies and a meeting place for technology fans. Products from over 4,500 exhibiting companies will attract visitors from all over the world to the desert in Nevada. At the world’s biggest electronics trade show in Las Vegas, Bosch will showcase its wide range of intelligent connection-based products and services. The focal topics at CES 2019 from 8th to 11th January are connected mobility and connected living.

Connected mobility
Autonomous, connected, electrical: The IoT shuttle is the highlight of the Bosch trade show stand at CES 2019. The concept vehicle with its light-flooded design and large screens stand for a new type of mobility experience. The shuttle is a kind of showroom where the focus is on the potential the ecological system offers from Bosch’s trendsetting products and services. For example over-the-air-updates are possible thanks to the connected systems — so vehicles no longer have to be taken to a garage for a software update. Or, on the other hand, the system itself notifies the driver when a component needs to be replaced. It means breakdowns can be avoided from the outset — something that benefits passengers and service providers as well as car-sharing companies or fleet operators.
The IoT-Shuttle is electrically-powered by the eAxle — a powertrain combining electric motor, transmission, power electronics and axle. The shuttle is piloted straight to the next free parking space by means of the community-based parking service. And the perfectly keyless system replaces the car key with a digital door opener on one’s smartphone. Carsharing companies can therefore control who is permitted to use their vehicles — and when.
Redundant systems and predictive road condition services ensure safer automated driving. The first involves the doubling up of safety relevant systems like the brakes or steering. Road condition services inform the vehicle about road conditions based on weather data and information from ice-detection systems.
The CES 2019 Innovation Award Honorees
Every year immediately before the trade show, outstanding products and technologies are honored. Diverse mobility solutions from Bosch have been nominated for the awards — the radar-controlled assistance and safety functions for motorcycles, the Mirror Camera System for trucks which negates the need for wing mirrors, and the Connectivity Control Unit (CCU), which allows vehicles to communicate with each other and the roadway infrastructure.
Connected living
Bosch is also represented in the connected living sector with innovative products and applications in areas such as heating and electrics, kitchen and entertainment, security systems, and more:
The lawn is growing quicker than you expected? No problem. Indego S+ takes care of the mowing autonomously. The intelligent robotic lawn mower is set in motion simply via an app.
It is the rock star amongst vacuum robots — Roxxter, the smart household help, autonomously takes over the vacuum cleaning. Live video streamed by the fitted R-cam also enables users to see whether everything is fine at home on their smartphone or tablet.
Excellent indoor climate: The AIR well-being sensor measures air quality, humidity, temperature, brightness and noise. Whether air pollution levels are too high due to vapors emanating from furniture and flooring, or poor air quality, the little cube reveals the problems — and recommends solutions.
Twist, the central remote control for the smart home, gives users an overview of their connected home devices and appliances. The palm-sized gadget can be touch or twist-operated and controls every connected device in the home.
The present-day kitchen has already been given a sci-fi-like touch with PAI (Projection and Interaction). The projector, fitted with a 3D sensor, turns the work surface into an enlarged smartphone display. The projection space reacts to tapping and swiping — makes it easy to look up a recipe while baking with dough-covered fingers.
